Music Ministry

Parish Music Ministry

Saint Augustine said: “When we sing, we pray twice!” Sung prayer expresses the joy of the heart, the happiness resulting from one who has encountered Jesus Christ and experienced his love. Sung prayer reminds us of the choirs of heaven, with whom we are called to praise God eternally in heaven. At St. Patrick’s, all of our music ministries support the parish in enriching, inspiring, motivating, and engaging all parishioners in the Eucharistic liturgy and other sacramental celebrations. We seek to develop the assembly as a primary musician who participates, fully and consciously, in the liturgy. “God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person. In the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.” (Sing to the Lord).

Are you looking for a way to praise the Lord through music? Would you like to be a part of a dynamic ministry that combines a love of music with a faith in the Lord? We would love to have you join one of our music groups! We also love to include instrumentalists of all kind in our music.

Listed below are the choral groups in the parish:

  • Saint Patrick’s Choir

We welcome adults age 18 and older to join. We rehearse weekly and sing at the different masses on a rotating basis. We work on choral pieces, ranging from contemporary to classical sacred and worship music.

  • Ageless Voices

We welcome teenagers, 8th graders and older, through adults for this group, which is intergenerational and works on diverse types of music. If you play an instrument you are also welcome to join us! We rehearse weekly and usually sing at the 4:30 PM or the 10:30 AM Mass.

  • Saint Patrick’s Children’s Choir

We welcome children who are in 1st grade through 8th grade. We generally sing at the 10:30 AM Mass for Children. We rehearse on Mondays or Tuesdays at 5:45 – 6:30 PM during the school year.

  • Last Chance Choir

This group ministers, by singing primarily praise and worship music, at the Sunday 5 PM Mass.  We are composed of high school teens and young adults and rehearse just prior to Mass.

  • Saint Patrick’s Festival Choir

All groups combine together in anticipation of a major season, such as Christmas or the Easter Triduum. We invite parishioners to join us for a shorter term time commitment of rehearsals, which some people find more possible with their schedules.

  • Resurrection Choir

Our Resurrection Choir sings when there is a funeral. This beautiful ministry is a comfort to grieving families, as we support the singing at Funeral Masses. Members are contacted a few days before the funeral and meet half-hour prior to the Mass to rehearse. Please consider sharing your heart and voice for this special ministry. Any parishioner is welcome.
