Weekend Updates

Thank, God, It’s Friday! 😁

Dear parishioners,

Peace be with you!

Firstly, I would like to thank the families who participated in our Vacation Bible School and Music Camp this week. Thank you, too, to our many volunteers – adults and teens. Thank you, Carl, Donna, and Meg.

Second, parents take the time now to register your family in the Parent-led Catechesis. The photo that accompanies this email came from C. Smith and A. Adamczyk’s Handing Down the Faith. Their studies reveal that three practices are most helpful to children in living out the faith: attendance to weekly services, importance of faith to parents, and taking the time to talk about the faith at home.

To families who have been participating in the Parent-led Catechesis, do share your experience to other families and do invite them to join our growing number.

Lastly, the Filipino American Association in Rochester will be holding garage sale tomorrow, Saturday, from 8 AM until 4 PM. They are accepting donations in clean and good condition – drop these off from 8 AM until 3 PM during the sale, in the parking lot.

See you in Church, People of God!

Weekend Updates

Thank, God, It’s Friday!

Dear parishioners,

It was good to see the current members of the Pastoral Council last Wednesday. We were able to elect the new officers: Pat Bolger (chair), John Hillenbrand (vice-chair), and Colleen Drain (secretary), with Owen Noon (as substitute). We will have the maximum membership this year. God provides!

Parents, if not yet done, take the time to register your family to our Christian Formation Programs, like the Parent-led Catechesis. Do invite other families to re-engage in Christian Formation. Thank you.

Please accompany with your prayers our children and volunteers who are participating in the Vacation Bible School and Music Camp next week.

Isaac is working on the leak of the evaporator coil in one of the roof top unit HVAC’s. Pray for a successful outcome.

The Filipino-American Association of Rochester will be hosting a garage sale on our parking lot next Saturday, July 22, from 8 AM until 4 PM. The proceeds benefit our parish. Please support the garage sale.

See you in Church, People of God!

Mid-week Update

A Blessed Day to All!

Dear parishioners,

A blessed Thursday to all!

To families who are heading out for summer vacation, be safe on your travels, have fun, and get rested. Wherever you are, prepare and participate in the celebration of the Mass on the Lord’s Day.

Last Tuesday evening, twelve parishioners gathered for dinner, and group viewing and discussion of The Chosen. The group decided to meet every two weeks to enjoy dessert, watch two episodes, and get into discussion and faith-sharing. Watch for updates in the bulletin. If you can make it, please join us.

Yesterday afternoon, I started with group RCIA sessions at the Ontario County jail. For those interested about jail ministry, the volunteers and I lead Inter-faith Rosary on Tuesday mornings, offer Communion Service on Sunday mornings, and conduct RCIA on Wednesday afternoons. If you can help in this wonderful ministry, please see me.

Next week, we have three Funeral Masses: on Monday for Julia Mincer, on Tuesday for Joseph Straub, and on Friday, for Tula Warchol. Pray for their eternal repose, and for comfort to their families. Thanks to the Funeral Liturgy Team and the Adult Choir for their generous help at these Masses.

This weekend, take note of the 10-page parish bulletin. We will use the additional space for Eucharistic Revival articles. Please support of bulletin and magazine advertisers – they help us get our bulletin, parish app, and this email service for free.

Thank you to parishioners who responded to the Stewardship Appeal to make up for the deficit in the Sunday collection. Your help is appreciated.

To end, let me share with you this powerful story of Rakhi McCormick… “It is Jesus, fully present in the Eucharist, who called me into the Church. As a young person, I had never felt like I fully belonged anywhere. This led me to try to “fit in,” often in ways that were unhealthy or destructive in hindsight. After longing fruitlessly and ending up in situations that left me wondering why God had created me at all, I began searching for answers…”  Continue reading

Midweek Updates

Eucharistic Revival – Year of the Parish

Dear parishioners,

We have a rainy Wednesday. The trees and grass look happy, and so too the vegetables, herbs, and flowers in our Giving Garden.

I am just glad that we had good weather last Sunday for our Eucharistic Procession in the Neighborhood. Definitely, many more this year participated in the devotion, and we had a good crowd at the Burger and Hotdog Cookout. Thank you for your presence and participation. Thank you to the staff, the adult choir, and the knights for the help.

On the board in the Alcove are four sheets of paper, corresponding to the four invitations for celebrating the Eucharistic Revival on the Year of the Parish. After reading the playbook and discussing with your families, please share with us how you are responding to the invitations. We’d love to hear from you. Write down your responses on sheets of paper. Pray for the work of the Liturgy Committee and the Pastoral Council as we go over your suggestions.

Continue to reflect on how the Eucharist has made an impact on your lives. Share your stories as do these men and women through Iamhere.org. These are powerful stories that can inspire us in our own journey.

Also, check out the series on The Mass created by the Word on Fire Ministries.

Thank you to the generous responses to serve through the Pastoral Council, the Baptism Preparation Team, and the Parish Gardens.

Anyone who is interested to help with our Sunday Communion Service at Ontario County Jail, please see me after a daily Mass or Mass of the Lord’s Day.

Lastly, I so appreciate your response to our Stewardship Appeal last month. We continue to receive your appeal envelopes. Thank you.

See you in Church, People of God!

Solemnity of Corpus Christi

Solemnity of Corpus Christi

Dear parishioners,

Good morning! I am sending this weekly update very early because of its importance and I do not want it to be buried in the busyness of this day.

This Sunday is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, a very important celebration of the Lord’s Day where we acknowledge and celebrate the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Also, this Sunday marks the beginning of the Eucharistic Revival and its year-long focus at the parish level. Here are a few things that you are invited to participate in…

    • first and most important, be present and active participate at the Mass of the Lord’s Day: Saturday at 4:30 pm and Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 am,
    • do read the Eucharistic Revival playbook and familiarize yourselves with its four goals. Think about how we may promote and achieve these goals at Saint Patrick’s. I invite you share with us your ideas by writing them on the white board in the Alcove. Take note of the four displays that correspond to the four goals.
    • after the 10:30 am Sunday Mass, join in the Eucharistic Procession around the block.

Also, I would like to express my gratitude to parishioners who responded to the invitation to serve through the Pastoral Council, the Baptism Prep Team, and the Parish Gardens. We need new stewards and you stepped forward. You are a blessing to our parish.

Our four-year old’s celebrated their Stepping Up Day last Thursday. It was good to see their faces, as those of their parents, grandparents, and siblings, beaming with joy. Thank you, Mrs. Everett and Mrs. Honecker for your dedication and guidance. Thank you, families, for entrusting us your children.

God bless you all!

See you in Church, People of God!

Happy Feast of the Visitation

It’s Power Wash Wednesday!

Dear parishioners,

Peace be with you!

The power washing of the church exterior walls continues today. Thank be to God for giving us these sunny days to do the work.

On June 10-11, we will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. After the 10:30 AM Mass, we will have a Eucharistic Procession around the block. We, too, will be having a hamburger cookout after the procession. If joining us at the cookout, please sign-up using the sheets on the Welcome Table.

Also, on June 10-11, we launch the Year of the Parish Revival of the three-year Eucharistic Revival. The National Committee has produced a wonderful playbook that we are using as reference point for our own parish celebration. Do take the time to familiarize yourself with its four invitations. Please come up with practical ways to live out these invitations in our parish and in our families. Share with us your suggestions on the Alcove white board.

Parents, our Vacation Bible School and Summer Music Camp are just a few weeks away. Remember to register.

We are in need of 2-3 additional new Parish Council members. Thank you to those who expressed interest to serve through the council. If you are interested and would like to know more about the council, please see me after Mass.

Weekend Updates

Looking Forward to Pentecost

Dear parishioners,

Jesus is ascended! Alleluia, alleluia!

What do we from now to Pentecost, which is next weekend? Prepare for the Parish Stewardship Fair! In the bulletin this weekend is a QR code for spiritual assessment. If you need help to know what your spiritual gifts are and what ministry matches your gifts, take the spiritual assessment. Our parish ministries would really appreciate new and additional help. After Mass next weekend, take the time to visit the Parish Center to get to know our parish ministries and those who are involved in them.

Grow Our Parish. Continue to invite family and friends to join us at Sunday Mass. Continue praying for the growth of our parish. Continue engaging with people on world events – in the light of faith. Continue to be kind.

Group Viewing of The Chosen. I am beginning to hear from parishioners enthusiastic response. Thank you. Now, we need to take the next step of finding a day and time to launch the first viewing.

You may have received in the mail our Stewardship Appeal. This is our attempt to fill in the deficit in our Sunday Collection. As we see our attendance increase slowly, pray that our collection do the same. We appreciate your kind and generous response.

Weekend Updates

Hail, Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with you.

Dear parishioners,

How are you enjoying the warm afternoon? I hope you have some time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

On my drive back home from the jail and the nursing home, we found a man on the road who fell from his bike. Another motorist stopped and two neighbors came to help. When I left, the man was in a safer place and was waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Please pray for him.

What is happening this weekend? A lot.

Tomorrow Saturday morning, we have the parent retreat for families preparing for First Penance and First Eucharist. At the same time, Christ Life will be doing their retreat.

At the weekend Masses, we will do our May Crowning as an expression of our love and devotion to our Blessed Mother. Because it is also Mother’s Day, we have a special blessing for moms and we also have some flowers for them.

Saturday evening at 6, join us at the Easter Food Cupboard Concert. Reception follows at 7:15 pm. Bring money and food for the food cupboard.

Sunday morning, the knights will be offering pancake breakfast after the 8:30 and 10:30 am Masses. This is a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend. God bless you all!
